Friends to Pray ForPlease pray for the people listed here. They are all at different stages. Some have just been diagnosed, some are in the midst of their diagnosis, some are in remission, and some are now cancer-free. Others have passed away, unfortunately, but we purposefully leave their names on our list so that we can pray for their families. Their situations change, but our God knows what they need each and every day. We can pray boldly for each of these patients/families, even if we don’t know their needs.

Bette Ann (Chicago, IL) Bette has been very recently diagnosed with small cell lung cancer which has partially spread to her liver, and will be starting chemo on Wednesday. They think there is a chance it may have spread into her bones as well, but are not doing any further testing at this time. On a scale of 1 to 10 (ten being the worst) doctors told her she is at a 6. Until she was diagnosed, she served with us on a team who volunteers at a women's homeless shelter, serving the ladies breakfast once a month. She is the mother-in-law of another volunteer who attends church with us. As far as I know, Bette is a non-practicing Catholic who does not have a home church, but seems to be a believer of Christ. I'm not sure how comfortable she would be with a call or home visit; it might be a bit overwhelming for her. But I think she might appreciate a care package. Thank you for doing such a wonderful, selfless thing. God Bless!

9/2/09
Frank (Chicago, IL) prayers requested by a friend.

9/2/09
Jill (St. Charles, MO) Jill is unchurched and living in fear of the cancer. She needs to find the peace that surpasses all understanding.

Salem Lutheran Church Confirmation Class (Sycamore, IL) For the Confirmation Class of Salem Lutheran Church to gather Care Package items to donate to the organization that are exactly what is needed for the requests received here for the Nov 8th pick up. That the group and those involved will be blessed as they gather materials to provide for the needy as our Savior commands.

Dave & Peg (Roselle, IL) Continue to keep Dave and Peg in your prayers as she faces new challenges at work, and he continues with his fight. There are several small tumors in his lungs, new large tumors on his liver, new large tumor in the colon area, a large tumor in the muscle wall of his back on the right side and a new tumor on his kidney. This was not good news as you can guess, especially since the last scan after starting Chemo was so positive with everything significantly shrinking. On the positive side, the brain looks stable with no new growth and some shrinkage of the larger tumor.

Please pray for Lynn. Her cancer markers have doubled recently. For a while she seemed to be in a "holding pattern" with constant chemo...the higher numbers are very bad news. She has big concerns for her children's salvation and this drains her of peace. Keep her in your prayers. She is a very precious lady with some very heavy burdens.

Kevin doesn't know the Lord; his wife Paula wants no part of "religion". Kevin had kidney cancer this time last year; was healed and has just been told he has lung cancer. He is a father of four daughters; 3 by his first wife who died from alcohol long after he was remarried to his second wife Paula.

Please continue to pray for Erik who has been in isolation, that he would regain his strength.

Please pray for Janice, as she is on morphine due to having a very large tumor. She will undergo a 10 hour surgery to remove the tumor and various organs on April 17th. The surgery went well! J

My husband has lung cancer stage 4 - he does not know the Lord and is not sure if God is real. Pray for his salvation. Thank you.

Please put them on the prayer list. The parent's names are Donna and Brant; the grandpa that I work with is John. It is truly a comfort to know little Jackson is completely healed and in heaven with his Savior. A friend at work just lost his 2 yr old grandson to cancer. The little guy (Jackson) had a tumor close to his brain stem that was removed Jan 1. He started chemo at Children's in WI. Approx 2 weeks ago they found cancer cells in his spinal fluid and changed his chemo treatment. On Sunday, April 5 he went home to be with the Lord. As you can image his young parents have a lot of medical bills. Please pray for financial help, too. Thank you so much!!

  • Please pray for one of our patients, Erik, who just had a stem cell transplant and is currently in isolation. He is now recovering at home. Please pray for his eyesight to improve so that he can read again.

  • For Joan, who is having rough chemo side effects, and undergoing treatments. Thank you for your prayers – she is no longer having the side effects!

  • For Bev, that she would have good test results and that the cancer has not spread.

  • Please pray for the family of Bill, who just passed away.

  • Praise for Joan’s great scan results!! Please pray that the cancer will remain in remission.

  • Please pray for Karen (McHenry, IL) - Karen had her surgery, and they removed part of her lymph node for a biopsy. Out of the 11 they removed, 2 of them had cancer. It had spread, and she is a stage 3 right now. They are very hopeful, yet it will be a long road. Let's keep the prayers coming for her and her family!
  • Please pray for Laura, wife and mom of 2 young children, who has been in remission for leukemia for 14 years and is not back in treatment.

  • Pray for Pam who needs a place to stay after she is released from rehab and for a job as well as her continued treatments.

  • Please pray for Ed whose cancer has spread to his bones. He went to Mayo Clinic, but they have nothing to offer him.

  • For Eric, in his mid twenties, who has been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.

  • Please pray for Clayton Farrar who is now on hospice.

  • Please pray for one of our patients, Linda, who will be traveling from Chicago to Baltimore in early February to meet with a doctor there. “Prayers to guard my mind from fears and doubts and worries as I wait to hear if I can and when I might have this surgery for my cancer. Prayers for our trip to Baltimore and prayers that they want to do the surgery and see it as a hopeful, positive move in my care. Pray for the surgery, if I have it, that it goes well without complications and that I can recover quickly. Thank you!”

  • Prayer for one of our volunteers who just lost a cousin to cancer. Her cousin was just diagnosed a few weeks ago. Please pray for her and her family

  • Please pray for our patient, Russell, whose brain tumor has begun to grow again. Wisdom for doctors with next step, and for their family.

  • Please pray for one of our patients who is getting a scan this week

Lisa (IL.) LISA IS STILL WITH US. However her change has worsened in this life.
She can no longer hold a conversation or return a hug. Her eyes can not
focus. The staff at Dupage Convalescence center pretty much does everything
for her.

Karl (IL.) is a youth leader at our church and a mentor to our teenage son has a brain tumor. The surgeons went into operate yesterday immediately upon realizing. We received word that the mass is so large that they could do nothing. This young man's father was also a pastor who passed away from cancer years ago. Karl is in college working on becoming a teacher and has no insurance. Is there any way you could help us reach a real need with this family. We need God to be glorified through this hard time.
